Steps to Root HTC Explorer and Install Custom Recovery

  • As you all know, HTC has put up an extra layer of bootloader that restricts you from rooting your HTC Explorer. So, in the first step, you need to unlock the bootloader of your HTC Explorer.
  • In order to unlock the bootloader, go to this HTC developer site and follow the instructions carefully. Select all other other supported devices while unlocking the bootloader. Trust me, this works!
  • Now, once you’ve unlocked the bootloader of your HTC smartphone, it’s time to the contents of custom recovery for HTC Explorer A310E. You extract them anywhere in the PC but I would recommend you to extract at C:/
  • Connect your phone to the computer and put it in fastboot mode (1st option in 3 Android menu).
  • You can boot into fastboot mode by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons. Once the device starts booting, release power button and continue to press volume down button. Select fastboot from the options using power key.
  • Open this newly created folder (extracted content) and click on recovery.bat file.
  • This should install custom recovery on your HTC Explorer.
  • Now, its time to root HTC Explorer and therefore put Superuser.zip file in the root directory of external SD card.
  • Boot into the custom recovery by pressing and holding volume down and power key. Keep pressing these buttons till the time your phone has booted into recovery.
  • Select install from SD card and navigate to the root directory of your SD card to locate superuser.zip.
  • Select the Superuser.zip file and start the process of rooting.
  • Come back to the main screen of rooting and select “reboot your device”.
Congrats! You’ve now rooted your HTC Explorer. You can check this by installing an app called Root Checker or searching for an app called Superuser in app drawer. Also, you can now install or move all apps to SD card.
