community is never quiet. It's
always busy bringing out hacks
for one device or another. This
time, it's xda member jgsolo27
who has come out with a rooting
tutorial for the low-end Karbonn
A21, a device which runs on a
1.2 GHz dual core snapdragon
processor. The only letdown in
the device is the meagre 386 MB
ram that's available to the end
user. The device is available for
INR 10,790 at Flipkart.
[Update: This method is working
for some, and not working for
others. If you are in the latter
group, try out the rooting guide
for Micromax A110 . It has been
reported working on Karbonn A21
too. You can even install the
drivers in the exact same way, so
all the steps are ditto for A21. ]
Let's talk about what you are
here for: Rooting the Karbonn
A18. The guide is quite easy and
the main part is installing the
drivers. Before you start off with
the guide, you might want to
learn what rooting is, and its
pros and cons . Without wasting
your time, let's roll down the
step you need to perform:
Downloads Required:
A21 Drivers and Root Tool.zip
1. Extract the zip file you
downloaded above.
2. Connect your phone to the
PC using USB and install the
drivers . Download
3. Open unlockroot and let it
install. (If your download
stucks, download the offline
version !)
Note: Your anti-virus might
classify it as a threat (as it
can potentially harm your
phone), but don't worry,
there is no virus in the file.
Just deactivate your anti-
virus temporarily.
4. Start Unlockroot. It should
detect your phone as drivers
have already been installed.
5. Click the big green root
button. (Ignore any (if
there's any) message that
says your phone is already
rooted.)
